RRSC Planning Calendar for 2010/2011

 

 

 


This document highlights key dates and events for the 2010/2011 season. Your Coach, Asst Coach and Team Manager will communicate definitive dates. We encourage you to communicate (potential) scheduling conflicts and planned absences to your coaches as soon as possible!

 We have made every effort to reflect known accurate dates at time of printing, but dates are subject to change and this should be viewed as a “living document.” Your Coach, Asst Coach and Team Manager will communicate definitive dates and will discuss attendance expectations at your team meeting.  

 

August:

·         Aug 9-13: RRSC Team Camp, visit www.rioranchosoccer.com for more info.

·         Aug 10: USA v Brazil 6PM on ESPN2. Preparation for the next World Cup qualifying cycle begins.

·         Aug 14: Grade 9 Ref clinic. Click here for registration and schedule information.

·         Aug 18: Coaches meeting 6:30PM at Stapleton Elementary

·         Aug 19: RRHS Boys Varsity Home Opener. Click here for complete schedule.

·         Aug 20: Lady Lobos Women Soccer Home Opener vs. Montana. 7PM. Click here for complete schedule.

·         Aug 21: Grade 9 Ref clinic. Click here for registration and schedule information.

·         Aug 23: U5/U6 Academy first practice (every Monday, except Labor Day, until October 18th)

·         Aug 27-29: Rio Open Tournament

·         Aug 28: Grade 9 Ref clinic. Click here for registration and schedule information.

·         Week of Aug 30: Formal team training officially to begin for non-tournament playing teams.

 

Practice Schedule will be communicated by Coach and/or Team Manager. The “Core” practice schedule is two training sessions per week.

·         Friday Night Skills Sessions: All U9 teams and above will have access to four sessions on 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8.

·         U7 & U8 Skills Night: This year, RRSC will re-vamp the old age consolidated training into a facilitated training environment, supported and lead by our Nationally Licensed Staff Coaches, for all U7 and U8 Teams. Eight-(8) Wednesdays starting on Sept 8.

·         Academy: practices are Monday, games are on Friday.  For both days, U5s play at 5PM, U6s at 6PM. 

 

September:

·         Sept 1: Lobos Mens Soccer Home Opener vs. St. Louis. 7PM. Click here for complete schedule.

·         Sept 3: U5/U6 Academy first game (every Friday until October 22nd)

·         Sept 4-6: Fiesta Kick-Off Tournament

·         Sept 6: Labor Day-No Academy practice!

·         Sept 8: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Sept 11: First match day of season (match #1)

·         Sept 11: Dine to Donate at Applebee’s (fundraiser) where 10% of your ticket will go to benefit RRSC.

·         Sept 15: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Sept 18: Second match day of season (match #2)

·         Sept 19: RRSC Picture Day at Loma Colorado for U7 and above team

·         Sept 17: Friday Night Skills start for U9 and above at High Resort

·         Sept 22: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Sept 24: Friday Night Skills for U9 and above at High Resort

·         Sept 25: Third match day of season (match #3)

·         Sept 26: Women’s Professional Soccer League Final  

·         Sept 26: NMYSA YOP and ODP Training and Identification Opportunity in Albuquerque for players born in 1999 or before

·         Sept 29: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

 

October:

·         Oct 1: Friday Night Skills for U9 and above at High Resort

·         Oct 2: Fourth match day of season (match #4)

·         Oct 6: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Oct 8: Friday Night Skills for U9 and above at High Resort

·         Oct 9: Fifth match day of season (match #5)

·         Oct 13: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Oct 16: Sixth match day of season (match #6)

·         Oct 20: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Oct 22: RRSC Night @ UNM Lobos Men’s Soccer vs Seattle University 7PM

·         Oct 23: Seventh match day of season (match #7)

·         Oct 27: U7/U8 Skills Nights at High Resort

·         Oct 30: Last match day of season (match #8)

·         Oct 30: U5/U6 Academy Jamboree


November:

·         Nov 4-6: NMAA High School State Soccer Championship, many games played at APS Soccer Complex in NW Albuquerque. Cheer the Rams and the Storm to the title!

·         Nov 6-7: Turkey Shoot Tournament (Typically for NWRGSL Scheduled teams)

·         Nov 7: Day light saving time ends

·         Nov 13-14: Gaylord Sheppard Tournament for U13 & Below. Learn more here.

·         Nov 21: MLS Cup

 

December:

·         Dec 3-5: Copa del Rey in Las Cruces, NM. Learn more here.

 

Tournament participation will be decided by Coach, Asst Coach and Team Manager.

 

Winter Soccer Options – Nov through February

There are numerous winter soccer training and playing options:

·         Junro Narita will conduct a “Soccer Specific Training” program, which is small group sessions with a focus on balance, agility, coordination, speed/first step quickness plus technical skills.

·         Futsal: There will most likely be three futsal leagues this winter from which to choose:

o    Super F League: Most likely played at the JCC on Saturday

o    ABQ Futsal: Most likely played at Sports and Wellness (Riverpoint) on weeknights

o    NWRGSL in conjunction with Bernalillo County Parks & Rec

·         Indoor Soccer at Blades

·         Much of the information on Winter Soccer does not come out until October. Participation in winter soccer will be discussed at a future date at a team level.

February:

·         Feb 5-6: Rush Spring Open Tournament. Learn more here.

Spring Season U7/U8 Skills and U9-U12 Skills to be announced by February 1.

 

March:

·         March 5: First Match of Spring Season

·         March 13: DST starts

April:

·         April 23: Last Match of Spring Season

·         April 30-May1: Jeanette Gallegos Tournament (Typically for NWRGSL teams) Learn more here.

Referee

·         NMSRA administers the referee certification program

·         See the schedule at http://www.nmsra.org/clinics.htm. Grade 9 Clinics are set for August 14, 15, 21 and 28, 2010.

 

Soccer on TV:

Watching soccer on TV is a great way for the kids to learn more, expand their passion for the sport and find intrinsic motivation to improve oneself. We encourage you to encourage the kids to watch soccer on TV. Fox Soccer Channel is great channels to add to your program in addition to the regular soccer programming on the ESPN family and the Spanish language channels.
